Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Kherson region on Thursday, his office announced.
Kherson is one of four regions that Moscow baselessly claims to have annexed. In November, Ukraine launched a successful counter-offensive and liberated a large part of the territories previously occupied by Russia.
‘Working trip to Kherson region. The village of Posad-Pokrovske, where many buildings and social infrastructure facilities were damaged because of Russia’s full-scale invasion’, Zelensky wrote on Telegram On Thursday.
The Ukrainian president promised that the region’s badly damaged infrastructure would be rebuilt as quickly as possible.
“We will try to restore it before winter. Our priority is to restore electricity. Drinking water will also be provided on schedule. I believe that everything will be fine,” Zelensky was quoted as saying on the website of the Ukrainian presidency.
Zelensky’s visit to Kherson Oblast marks his second trip to Ukrainian regions in recent days. Before that, he met military units near Bakhmut , presenting them with decorations. Zelensky also visited a military medical facility in the northern Kharkiv region.
