The WCF is organized by the Art of Living Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by humanitarian and spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The WCF has been held three times before, in Berlin (2011), New Delhi (2016), and Buenos Aires (2018), attracting millions of participants and spectators.

The fourth edition of the WCF will take place in Washington, DC, from September 29 to October 1, 2023, on the iconic National Mall. The WCF will feature more than 17,000 artists from over 180 countries, performing various forms of music, dance, and art.
