A 24-year-old woman from Illinois was arrested on Sunday while trying to enter Hawaii with a fake covid-19 vaccination record card.
The woman, identified as Chloe Mrozak, was arrested at the Daniel K. Inouy International Airport on the island of Oahu, according to local TV station KITV.
Mrozak faces a maximum sentence of a year in prison and is reportedly being held on $2,000 bail.
Mrozak, who was arrested in Hawaii for falsifying her vaccination card in order to comply with state travel regulations appears to have written “Maderna” instead of “Moderna” on it.
Mrozak listed Delaware as the place where she got her vaccination, KHON2 news reported. The special agent in charge of the investigation contacted Delaware officials to verify her vaccination status, but no record was found under her name and date of birth, the report added.
“The AG Quarantine Compliance Team conducted its investigations contacted the appropriate state that does the vaccination and determined there was no record of the suspect that had been vaccinated,” Special Agent William Lau of the Department of the Attorney told KNON2..
All visitors to Hawaii must self-quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, but that requirement is waived for people who’ve been fully vaccinated. By bringing a fake vaccine card, Mrozak was allegedly hoping to bypass mandatory quarantine.
