The White House has launched a bold initiative to tackle inefficiency and fraud within federal agencies, fulfilling President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to making government work for its citizens. Last night, officials from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), joined by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, appeared on Special Report with Bret Baier to share insights into their transformative efforts.

Cracking Down on Fraud and Waste Tom Krause, a senior DOGE official, highlighted the staggering financial mismanagement within government operations: “Every year, we see $500 billion lost to fraud and hundreds of billions more in improper payments. We can’t even pass an audit. If I were the CFO of a public company, I’d already be fired.” Krause emphasized the urgent need to overhaul fiscal practices and change the culture of inefficiency.

Elon Musk shed light on shocking examples of fraudulent payments, revealing that Small Business Administration loans were issued to individuals as young as nine months old, as well as recipients over the age of 120. “The sheer amount of waste and fraud in the government is mind-blowing,” Musk stated. “We routinely uncover cases of $1 billion wasted—casually.”

Safeguarding Social Security DOGE is also focusing on improving Social Security operations, protecting beneficiaries from fraud while streamlining services. Aram Moghaddassi noted that nearly 40% of calls received by the Social Security Administration are from fraudsters attempting to manipulate direct deposit information. “Our goal is to shield legitimate beneficiaries from these attacks and improve their experience,” Moghaddassi explained.

Revolutionizing Health Care Data Brad Smith addressed inefficiencies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where outdated systems hinder progress. “There are 700 IT systems at NIH, and none of them talk to each other,” Smith revealed. “With 27 CIOs managing fragmented systems, it’s nearly impossible to connect data for groundbreaking medical discoveries.”

Streamlining Government Retirement Processes DOGE is also taking aim at the sluggish pace of retirement approvals for federal workers. Joe Gebbia outlined plans to cut wait times from months to just days, promising a more efficient approach that aligns with the agency’s broader mission.

A Vision for America’s Future Reflecting on DOGE’s ambitious reforms, Elon Musk expressed optimism for the nation’s path forward. “At the end of the day, America is going to be in much better shape. Critical programs will function as they should, and we’ll ensure that America remains solvent. The future is going to be fantastic.”

The DOGE initiative represents a significant step toward increasing accountability and restoring trust in government operations. With billions of dollars on the line and inefficiencies exposed, the administration faces mounting pressure to deliver meaningful results.
