On Saturday, the 35-year-old American track and field star Allyson Felix cemented her legendary status as she nabbed her eleventh-career medal and became the most decorated athlete in the sport’s history.

The U.S. women’s 4×400 meter relay team won gold, beating the closest competition, Poland, by more than three and a half seconds.

Felix, who won Gold in the 4×400 relay alongside teammates Sydney McLaughlin, Dalilah Muhammad, and Athing Mu, breaks a record of ten medals held by Carl Lewis up until this point.

It was Felix’s 11th Olympic medal and her seventh gold.

“I WOULDN’T BE HERE WITHOUT THOSE WHO PAVED THE WAY, AND I’M JUST GRATEFUL FOR MY OWN JOURNEY. I LOVE THE SPORT AND IT’S BEEN SO GOOD TO ME” – Allyson Felix.

This is the last race of Felix’s storied Olympic career, which included winning at least one medal in every game since 2004.

Poland won the silver with a national record and Jamaica won the bronze in Women 4X400 relay.
