A military aircraft with five marines on board crashed in southern California on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Marine.

At approximately 12:25 PST, an MV-22B Osprey was crashed near Glamis, California, The U.S. Marine said in a tweet.

“We are awaiting confirmation of the status of the five Marines who were onboard the aircraft, which was stationed at MCAS Camp Pendleton with Marine Aircraft Group 39,” the Marine said.

“Military and civilian first responders are on site. Contrary to social media rumours, there was no nuclear material on board the aircraft.”

The aircraft was identified as an MV-22B Osprey, based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton.
