The US embassy in Islamabad on Sunday asked its employees to stay away from the Marriott Hotel due to concerns about a “possible attack”. In fact, Islamabad is on high alert at this time. All programs organized there have been canceled.

The US government has said there is a possibility of an attack on US citizens in Pakistan during the holiday. The US Embassy has issued a warning to people in its community not to attend public functions as the US government is aware that unknown individuals are planning an attack. In the interest of security, the embassy has requested all mission personnel to avoid non-essential, unofficial travel to Islamabad during holidays.

The embassy has asked its employees to be vigilant at events and religious places. In addition, it is suggested to stay away from crowded places. The embassy urges the American people to plan for their own safety, keep their IDs with them, and obey the law.

in a security alert, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, on Sunday said: “The U.S. The government is aware of information that unknown individuals are possibly plotting to attack Americans at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad sometime during the holidays. Effective immediately, the Embassy in Islamabad is prohibiting all American staff from visiting Islamabad’s Marriott Hotel. Furthermore, as Islamabad has been placed on a Red Alert citing security concerns while banning all public gatherings, the embassy is urging all Mission personnel to refrain from non-essential, unofficial travel in Islamabad throughout the holiday season.”

Two days ago, a policeman was killed and six others were injured when a suicide bomb exploded in the capital, Islamabad. Considering this incident, the American Embassy has issued an instructional notice. The Islamabad administration has banned all kinds of gatherings, and activities related to election programs for 15 days. Also, a high alert has been declared in the city for the next 48 hours.

In 2008, a suicide bomber rammed a truck carrying 600 kilograms of explosives into the outer gate of the five-star Marriott Hotel, causing a massive explosion. 60 people died in the explosion. After this attack, that part of the hotel was destroyed and then closed. A few months later, this gate was bomb proofed and opened.

Now Pakistan is facing the increasing threat of terrorism. Meanwhile, there is continuous firing from Afghanistan in the border area.
