A tragic shooting at Antioch High School on Wednesday morning has left two people dead, including the 17-year-old shooter, and another student injured. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed the shooter fired multiple shots in the school cafeteria before turning the gun on himself.
Incident Timeline
The shooting occurred at 11:09 a.m. when the 17-year-old male student opened fire in the school cafeteria, according to an MNPD statement.

Authorities received an active shooter call at 11:11 a.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement, including SWAT units, who cleared the building and secured the scene.

“What we know at this point: A 17-year-old male student fired multiple shots in the cafeteria at 11:09 a.m. Two students were wounded, one fatally (a female). The other student (a male) suffered a graze wound to the arm. The 17-year-old shot himself in the head and is deceased,” the MNPD stated.
Reunification and Support
Students are being transported by buses to a reunification center at 3754 Murfreesboro Pike, where parents can pick them up. MNPS has urged parents not to come to the school directly, and Murfreesboro Pike northbound remains closed.
Social workers and guidance counselors are on-site at the Family Assistance Center to provide emotional support to affected students and families.
Investigation Underway
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are assisting MNPD in the investigation. While the motive for the shooting remains unclear, authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
