In recent weeks, Ukraine has shown increasing boldness in carrying out air strikes on strategic targets within Russia, despite facing attacks on its own cities. This marks a new phase of the conflict, as Kyiv seeks to erode domestic Russian support for the war . As a result of these air strikes, all four Moscow airports temporarily suspended flight operations, causing disruptions and redirecting passenger flights to alternate airports.

After the raids took place, flight operations at all four Moscow airports were temporarily halted. The Federal Air Transport Agency, as reported by state news agency TASS, stated that around 11 passenger flights were redirected to different airports, resulting in disruptions. However, subsequent updates revealed that the airp

More than 40 jets have been redirected to alternative airports over restrictions on the use of Moscow’s airspace, as reported by state news agency TASS citing a representative of the press service of the Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport said in a statement.

“Due to limited use of airspace 45 jets have been redirected to alternative airports. Sheremetyevo, St. Petersburg, Samara, Kazan, Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod were used as alternative airports. Passengers from those flights will be carried to destination airports in the near future,” the press service said.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said earlier on Thursday that Russian air defense systems had destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle flying in the direction of the city over the territory of the Voskresensky district of the Moscow Region.

Ukraine also attempted a drone attack on a television tower near its border with Russia, but the attack was thwarted by Russian air defenses. Furthermore, a drone attack on an airport in the western city of Pskov caused damage to several aircraft . The Russian government attributes these attacks to the “terrorist activity of the Kyiv regime” .

While the air strikes continue, ground warfare in Ukraine remains fierce and progress is slow. Ukrainian forces have increased the evacuation of children from the frontline town of Kupiansk, as Russian forces advance towards the city. This is part of a larger strategy to draw opposition troops away from their primary targets .

Ukrainian troops in the southern front have reported making further progress towards the villages of Novodanylivka and Verbove, which, if successful, would allow them to expand their territory and move closer to the strategic hub of Tokmak, currently held by Russian forces.
