The United States has launched its third wave of airstrikes against Iran-linked groups in Syria, targeting a weapons storage facility and a command center used by militants. This decisive action is a response to the ongoing attacks on American troops in the Middle East.

The Pentagon has categorized these strikes as part of a broader deterrence strategy aimed at preventing further escalation in the region. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasized the paramount importance of the safety of U.S. personnel, stating, “The president has directed today’s action to make clear that the United States will defend itself, its personnel, and its interests.”

In a statement, Austin said, “U.S. military forces conducted precision strikes today on facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran-affiliated groups in response to continued attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria. The strikes were conducted against a training facility and a safe house near the cities of Abu Kamal and Mayadin, respectively.”

The President has no higher priority than the safety of U.S. personnel, and he directed today’s action to make clear that the United States will defend itself, its personnel, and its interests.

General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM), confirmed the airstrikes near the cities of Abu Kamal and Mayadin. These strikes were a direct response to the sustained provocations by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and their affiliated groups in Iraq and Syria.

General Kurilla underscored the unwavering commitment of the United States to defend itself, its personnel, and its interests. “The United States will continue to defend itself, its personnel, and its interests,” he affirmed.

This marks the third round of retaliation, following previous strikes on a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria. This facility was utilized by Iran-backed militants responsible for numerous drone and rocket attacks against American troops in the weeks leading up to these decisive actions.

The situation is evolving rapidly, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
