(GNB Desk): The House of Representatives today voted to remove Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments, over her embrace of the QAnon conspiracy theory and other violent political rhetoric.
The final vote tally was 230-199 and 11 Republicans voted in support of the resolution.
11 Republicans joined all Democrats in voting to remove Greene:
- Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa.
- Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla.
- Rep. Mario Diaz Balart, R-Fla.
- Rep. Chris Jacobs, R-N.Y.
- Rep. John Katko, R-N.Y.
- Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif.
- Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill.
- Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y.
- Rep. Maria Salazar, R-Fla.
- Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J.
- Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich.
Addressing her colleagues, Greene tried to dissociate herself from her “words of the past.” Contradicting past social media posts, she said she believes the 9-11 attacks and mass school shootings were real and no longer believes QAnon conspiracy theories, which include lies about Democratic-run pedophile rings.
But she didn’t explicitly apologize for supportive online remarks she’s made on other subjects, as when she mulled about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi being assassinated or the possibility of Jewish-controlled space rays causing wildfires. And she portrayed herself as the victim of unscrupulous “big media companies.”
“I’ll be holding a press conference tomorrow at 11 AM. See you there”, Rep. Greene tweeted just after House’s decision to remove her from committee assignments.
