A rented U-Haul truck hit and injured many pedestrians in Brooklyn, New York on Monday. According to local media, the U-Haul truck struck eight people. Later, the authorities took control of the vehicle and took the driver into custody.
The incident took place around 11 am. Police caught the driver near Hamilton Avenue and Columbia Street in Red Hook after hitting pedestrians and fleeing.
The New York City police commissioner said eight people, including a police officer, were injured in an incident in the Bay Ridge area on Monday. The condition of four people is serious and four people are slightly injured. At the same time, Justin Brannon, a member of the local city council, said that although it may seem like an accidental incident, there may be some purpose behind it.
The motive behind the incident and the identity of the driver is yet to be revealed.
