Last month’s devastating earthquakes have wreaked havoc in Turkey and Syria. Let us know that more than 100 billion dollars have been lost in Turkey alone. An official of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) gave this information during a press briefing on Tuesday.

UNDP’s Louisa Vinton said through a video link from Gaziantep that it is clear from the calculations so far that the damage data presented by the government and the estimate supported by international partners will exceed 100 billion dollars.

“Already it is clear that just the damages alone will amount to more than $100 billion,” Vinton told reporters.

A $1 billion flash appeal made on February 16 is currently funded at just 9.6 percent of the total, she said.

The 7.8-magnitude quake that struck on February 6 and its aftershocks have claimed more than 45,000 lives in Turkey and 5,000 in neighboring Syria.

The World Bank (World Bank) had previously estimated that Turkey will lose about 34.2 billion dollars. At the same time, Louisa Winton referred to the scenes in Hati, the province most affected by the earthquake in Turkey, and described it as an ‘apocalypse’. He said that hundreds of thousands of houses have been damaged.

Recently, Turkey’s Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum said that 1,64,000 buildings have either collapsed or been damaged due to the devastating earthquake.
