Former US President Donald Trump has said that he may go to jail soon. He claimed this while writing a status on his social network Truth Social.

Trump has urged his supporters to oppose his arrest, saying he will be arrested on Tuesday in a case brought by the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

“Now Illegal leaks from a corrupt & highly political Manhattan district attorney’s office … indicate that, with no crime being able to be proven … the far & away leading Republican candidate & former president of the United States of America, will be arrested on Tuesday of next week,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“Protest, take our nation back!” Trump has called on supporters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6 in an attempt to reverse his 2020 presidential election defeat.

It is said that the spokesperson of the district attorney’s office refused to speak to media inquiries regarding Trump’s claim.

According to Trump, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office has indicted him in the “hush money” case. However, Trump has not been able to show any evidence in this regard and has not said what the charges will be. It is also possible that Trump made the statement as a political strategy to rally his supporters and deflect attention from other issues.

The case involves porn star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Gregory Clifford, who said she had an affair with Trump a decade ago. However, Trump has been denying the affair.

An investigation into documents last year revealed that Trump and former top aide Hope Hicks were directly involved in paying porn star Stormy Daniels huge sums of hush money to keep her mouth shut during the 2016 presidential campaign.

After this, Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen admitted his crime in August last year and said that he gave money to Stormi on Trump’s order. But it is not clear whether Trump had a direct role in it or not.

According to the documents, Stormi was paid $130,000 in October 2016. Cohen spoke to Trump on the phone twice before giving Stormi the money. Stormy has previously claimed to have a close relationship with Trump in 2006.

On Jan. 31, Stormy issued a statement denying the alleged affair, saying “I am not denying this affair because I was paid ‘hush money’ as has been reported in overseas-owned tabloids. I am denying it because it never happened.”

Trump was the US president from 2017 to 2021 and has said that he will try to return to the White House after winning the 2024 US presidential election.

The probe comes at a critical time, as Trump seeks the Republican nomination for the presidency in 2024.
