Former US President Donald Trump at his first rally targeted his successor Joe Biden, calling him an “enemy of the state”. Trump hit back in Philadelphia over President Biden’s claim that the former leader and his staunch Republican supporters were undermining American democracy.
Biden said in his address outside the Independence Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday night that it is a nation that rejects the use of violence as a political tool. At our core is a democracy. Yet history tells us that blind allegiance to a single leader and willingness to engage in political violence is fatal in a democracy.
Trump, 76, described Biden’s remarks as the most vicious, hateful, and divisive speech ever made by a US president. Trump said on Saturday, “He is the enemy of the state. You want to know the truth. He is the enemy of the state.”
On August 8, the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence to search for sensitive files. Regarding this, Trump said that what happened a few weeks ago, there can be no more vivid example for American freedom. He called it a more shocking abuse of power than any government in American history. He said the search was a “joke of justice”.
