In a statement shared on Truth Social, the President of the United States announced significant progress in negotiations to secure the future of TikTok, a popular social media platform. The platform has been under scrutiny due to national security concerns, prompting the administration to work toward a resolution.
“My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress,” the President stated. He emphasized that while progress has been made, additional steps are required to finalize the deal. To ensure TikTok remains operational during this process, the President has signed an Executive Order granting a 75-day extension.
“The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days,” he explained.
The President also addressed broader trade relations with China, highlighting the role of tariffs in the ongoing negotiations. “We hope to continue working in Good Faith with China, who I understand are not very happy about our Reciprocal Tariffs (Necessary for Fair and Balanced Trade between China and the U.S.A.!). This proves that Tariffs are the most powerful Economic tool, and very important to our National Security!” he remarked.
The administration’s efforts aim to balance national security concerns with the platform’s accessibility to millions of users. “We do not want TikTok to ‘go dark.’ We look forward to working with TikTok and China to close the Deal,” the President concluded.
As the 75-day extension begins, the focus remains on finalizing a deal that addresses security concerns while ensuring TikTok’s continued operation in the United States.
