Tesla is allowing customers to buy select merchandise items using Dogecoin, according to the website and a tweet from CEO Elon Musk.
“Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency that can be used to purchase this item. The DOGE price includes shipping and taxes,” the website said.
Musk has been interested in Dogecoin of late, having discussed in May the potential “efficiency” of the cryptocurrency compared to Bitcoin. Then in December, he tweeted that the company would “make some merch buyable with Doge & see how it goes.” Following Musk’s announcement today, Dogecoin has gone up around 14 percent over the last 24 hours.
According to the store, Dogecoin is now the only way to buy those items as a cash option is no longer showing.

How do I buy something from Tesla with Dogecoin?
To purchase using Dogecoin on the Tesla Shop, you will need a “Dogecoin wallet.” A Dogecoin wallet is a device, platform, app or software that supports Dogecoin transfers. When checking out with Dogecoin, the payment page will display the Tesla Dogecoin wallet “address” in both an alphanumeric code and a QR code form for you to connect to your Dogecoin wallet to transfer the Dogecoin. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that Dogecoin is transferred to Tesla’s Dogecoin wallet accurately.
How do I know how much Dogecoin to enter?
All eligible Tesla products will be clearly priced in Dogecoin. This price will include any applicable taxes.
