The Taliban issued a stark warning about troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by 31st August.

“It’s a red line, no extension for evacuation deadline from Afghanistan,”Dr Suhail Shaheen, spokesman for the Taliban told British news channel Sky News.

Taliban spokesperson said, “If the US or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations – the answer is no. Or there would be consequences. It will create mistrust between us. If they are intent on continuing the occupation it will provoke a reaction.”

The development comes as UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson is about to ask United States President Joe Biden to extend the deadline for withdrawal to allow more people to flee the Taliban rule.

As the date approaches for British, American & NATO troops to leave the country, reporter Sally asked what the Taliban would say to the families of those who died trying to help Afghanistan.

“They want to reside in Western countries and that is a kind of economic migration because Afghanistan is a poor country and 70% of the people of Afghanistan live under the line of poverty so everyone wants to resettle in Western countries to have a prosperous life. It is not about [being] scared,” on the desperate scenes at Kabul airport, Taliban spokesperson told Sky News reporter Sally Lockwood.

On a question to Afghan women’s hard-fought rights, Shaheen said “they will lose nothing… Women are required to have the same rights as you have in your country but with hijab.”
