    Suspect Arrested After Robbing 66-Year-Old Woman in Reston

    The Fairfax County Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect involved in the robbery of a 66-year-old woman in Reston. The incident took place on July 24 at approximately 8:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of North Shore Drive near the Hunter Woods shopping center.

    According to the FCPD, the victim was aboard a metro bus when she engaged in a conversation with the suspect. After disembarking from the bus, the victim sat on a nearby bench. It was then that the suspect, identified as 38-year-old James David Freeman (who identifies as Jasmine Freeman and Kelly Freeman) of Reston, allegedly sat down next to her and forcibly snatched her wallet.

    A physical struggle ensued between the victim and the suspect before the suspect managed to flee the scene. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries during the robbery.

    Following a thorough investigation, Reston officers were able to identify and charge James David Freeman with robbery. On July 26, Freeman was apprehended without incident and subsequently transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is currently being held on no bond.

    The Fairfax County Police Department urges anyone with additional information about this incident to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigation.     To ensure the victim receives appropriate support and assistance, Victim Specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to provide the necessary resources, ther FCPD said.
