US State Department spokesman Ned Price is stepping down from his job, he announced on Tuesday. However, he will continue in his post till this month.

Ned Price was handling the responsibility of the spokesman of the US State Department for the last two years. He was appointed spokesperson of the State Department on January 20, 2021.

Talking to the media, Price said that he started his professional life as an analyst in the CIA.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that Ned Price has been the face and voice of American foreign policy to the people of America and around the world. He discharged his duties with professionalism and integrity. On behalf of our ministry, I thank Ned for his remarkable service. They said Ned Price treated reporters as well as colleagues and everyone in the room with respect during more than 200 briefings.

In his statement, Blinken credited Price with restarting the daily press briefings with Price, which had become erratic during the administration of former President Donald Trump. However, the statement did not mention who would replace Price. A State Department official said Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel would temporarily take over for Price.

Price, who worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Council during the Obama administration, resigned in February 2017 and openly criticized then-President Trump. Price then said he could not work with the Trump administration because of his criticism of the intelligence system. Price first worked as a CIA analyst and then served as spokesman for the National Security Council in the Obama administration.
