Sri Lanka won by 8 wickets over England in the Cricket World Cup 2023 match played today in India. It was a stunning performance by the Sri Lankan team, who chased down the target of 157 in just 25.4 overs.

Pathum Nissanka scored an unbeaten 77 and Sadeera Samarawickrama made 65 not out as they put on an unbroken 143-run partnership for the third wicket.

England, on the other hand, had a dismal day with the bat, as they were bowled out for 156 in 33.2 overs. David Willey was the only batsman to show some resistance, scoring 47 off 50 balls. The rest of the top order collapsed against the spinners, with Wanindu Hasaranga taking 4 for 27 and Akila Dananjaya taking 3 for 28.
