A tragic plane crash in the Zvamahande area of Mashava village, located in Zimbabwe’s southeastern Masvingo Province, has claimed the lives of six people, according to the state broadcaster, ZBC. The RioZim plane is suspected to have developed a mechanical fault before it crashed on Friday morning.

The plane had taken off from Mashava Airport en route to the capital city, Harare. Shortly after departure, it encountered mechanical issues. Eyewitnesses in the vicinity reported seeing the aircraft struggling to maintain altitude before plummeting to the ground.

Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the crash site, located in a remote area near Mashava. Despite their swift response, all six individuals on board the plane, including five passengers and the pilot, tragically lost their lives in the crash. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed pending notification of their families.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest that mechanical failure may have played a significant role in this devastating incident.
