Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital was rocked by several explosions early on Sunday, according to The Ukrainian air forces. The Russians launched missiles from Tu-95 aircraft in the Caspian Sea area, the Ukrainian airforce said.
“This morning, June 5, the enemy launched several missiles towards Kyiv. At about 06:00, the service members of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Command ‘Center’ detected and fired on them. One cruise missile was destroyed,” the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted on Facebook.
Earlier on Sunday, Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, had said Kyiv had been hit by several explosions in the Darnytsky and Dniprovsky districts of the city. The missile attacks are the first such strikes on the capital since April 28.
