Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered his condolences following a tragic plane crash near Moscow. The crash occurred on Wednesday, and President Putin expressed his sympathy during a meeting with Denis Pushilin, the acting head of Donetsk. He stated, “I want to express my sincere condolences to the families of all those who died.”

The incident involved a private Embraer plane that was traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, the plane crashed in the Tver Region, resulting in the loss of all 10 individuals on board. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed the fatalities.

Notably, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner military group, was among the passengers on the ill-fated flight. President Putin shared that he had known Prigozhin since the early 1990s. Despite acknowledging Prigozhin’s past mistakes, Putin highlighted his accomplishments and contributions to various causes.

Prigozhin had recently returned from Africa and had engaged with officials in Russia. It’s worth noting that Prigozhin faced accusations related to an attempted armed rebellion in Russia earlier this year. On June 24, he was involved in an incident at the headquarters of the Russian armed forces’ Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Subsequently, a compromise was reached with Moscow, mediated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
