Russia has halted oil supplies to Poland via the Druzhba pipeline. This was announced by the Polish group Pkn Orlen, which operates in the field of oil and fuel resale.
Since February, after the contract with Russia’s Rosneft expired, Orlen has been buying crude oil through the contract with Russia’s Tatneft. The Druzhba pipeline was freed from European Union sanctions imposed on Russia in connection with the all-out invasion of Ukraine. A pipeline supplying oil to Poland and Germany as well as Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia has been exempted from sanctions to help countries with limited alternative supplies.
The Polish oil giant announced that Russia has halted oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline under the last valid contract, which covers about 10% of Orlen’s needs. “Supply through the Druzhba pipeline to Poland has been stopped by the Russian side,” the AFT news agency reported quoiting the Polish group as saying.
