Washington D.C. (GNB): Vice President Mike Pence said in a letter to House of Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday that he doesn’t support 25th amendment proceedings to remove President Trump from power.
Pence wrote in a letter “But now with just eight days left in the President’s term, you and Democratic Caucus are demanding that the Cabinet and I invoke the 25th Amendment. I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with our Constitution”.
Pence also wrote that invoking the 25th Amendment “in such a manner would set a terrible precedent.”
He said “I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with our Constitution”.
He also urged Congress to focus on uniting the country ahead of the transition to Biden’s administration and “avoid actions that would further divide and inflame the passions of the moment.”
The House will vote late Tuesday evening on Raskin’s resolution, before taking up the impeachment resolution at 9 a.m. ET Wednesday.
