Ramchandra Paudel, the former speaker and senior leader of the Nepali Congress, has been elected as the third president of Nepal. According to the Office of the Presidential Election Officer, he was elected with 33,802 votes.
In the election held on Thursday, Paudel was elected as the President by receiving 33 thousand 802 votes. He got the votes of 214 federal MPs and 352 state MPs.
Members of Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN United Socialist Party, National Independent Party, Janmaat Party, Civil Liberation Party, National People’s Front voted for Paudel.
UML’s candidate for the presidency, Subash Chandra Nemwang, got 15,518 votes. Out of which he got the votes of 96 federal MPs and 162 state MPs.
831 people, including 313 federal parliamentarians and 518 provincial assembly members, voted in the presidential election in which members of the federal parliament and state assembly voted.
