President Joe Biden has signed a bill providing Ukraine with a $40 billion aid package to help fund its war effort as the Russian invasion approaches its fourth month.
Biden signed the bill after it was flown to him during a trip to Asia.
“On Saturday, May 21, 2022, the President signed into law H.R. 7691, the ‘Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022,’ which provides supplemental emergency appropriations for fiscal year 2022 to Federal agencies to respond to the situation in, and for assistance to, Ukraine,” the White House said in a statement.
The U.S. Senate on Thursday voted 86-11 and passed to approve a $40 billion Ukraine aid package.
The package would replenish U.S. stockpiles of weapons transferred to Ukraine and provide billions of dollars to help the Ukrainian government continue operating and for humanitarian assistance.
