Washington D.C. (GBN)– California Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi has been elected to another term as speaker of the House of Representatives for the 117th Congress.
Pelosi won 216 votes Sunday to secure the speakership with five Democrats breaking ranks to support someone else or vote present. All Republicans voted for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. The House voted 216-209 to reinstate Pelosi.
Pelosi, 80, previously made history as the first woman to be elected speaker, and she has again made history on Sunday by becoming the oldest American to be elected to the role.
