Pakistan security forces conducted intelligence based operations in two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, killing eight terrorists and arresting five others, according to a statement by The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The statement said that the first operation took place in Jani Khel area of Bannu district, where six terrorists were killed and five were captured after a fierce exchange of fire with the troops. The ISPR claimed that these terrorists were involved in numerous attacks against security forces, including a suicide bombing on a military convoy on August 31, which killed nine soldiers.
The second operation was carried out in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan district, where two terrorists were killed in another encounter with the security forces. The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorists and that the surrounding areas were being sanitized to eliminate any other terrorist presence.
The statement added that the locals of the area appreciated the operation and that the security forces of Pakistan remained determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
