In an extraordinary turn of events, the Powerball jackpot has been claimed by a single ticket in Oregon, with the lucky winner set to receive a staggering $1.326 billion. This grand prize, which has a cash option of $621 million, marks the fourth largest in Powerball history and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery games.

The winning numbers for this historic draw were 22, 27, 44, 52, 69, with the red Powerball 9, and a Power Play multiplier of 3X. The draw, initially scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to a delay in pre-draw procedures by one lottery. It was later conducted at 2:29 a.m. ET on Sunday, live-streamed from the Florida Lottery draw studio.

Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, extended his congratulations to the winner, emphasizing the impact of Powerball beyond mere winnings: “Winning the Powerball is not just about hitting the jackpot; it’s about the power to make dreams a reality and to create positive change in the world.”

The fortunate ticket holder now faces a choice between an annuitized prize of $1.326 billion, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment of $621 million, both options subject to taxes. The annuity option includes a 5-percent increase in payments each year.

Despite the jackpot being won by a single ticket, lottery officials are encouraging players to check their tickets, as there are nine different ways to win. The latest drawing produced over 4.5 million winning tickets nationwide, including seven $1 million prizes and numerous $50,000 and $150,000 prizes.

This jackpot win is the second of the year, following a $842.4 million win in Michigan on New Year’s Day.

Powerball continues to be a popular game, with tickets priced at $2 and available across 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game’s proceeds significantly benefit the jurisdictions where tickets are sold. Live drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST.

The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9, while the jackpot odds stand at 1 in 292.2 million.

The top 10 Powerball jackpots now include this latest win, with the record still held by the $2.04 billion jackpot from November 2022.
