The Canvas of Cultures: A Celebration of Art, Poetry, and Music event brought together diverse talents from various countries to celebrate the transformative and unifying power of creativity, including the artistic and poetic contributions from Nepal. Organised by the International Association of Art and Culture for Peace (IAACP), operating under the umbrella of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), the event highlighted how art, poetry, and music transcend cultural boundaries to inspire dialogue, empathy, and peace.

The programme featured Rhoslyn Singh, a talented 20-year-old artist from Nepal, whose work draws inspiration from her homeland while bridging British and European influences. Rhoslyn shared her artistic journey and highlighted her previous exhibitions in Nepal, Qatar, and the UK, where her depictions of Nepali women’s faces celebrated cultural heritage. Complementing her was Dr Rupak Shrestha, a poet from Nepal, who captivated the audience with verses deeply rooted in Nepal’s rich cultural traditions. He elaborated on how his poetry reflects both Nepali and British cultural elements and highlighted Nepal’s thriving literary landscape. Together, their contributions showcased Nepal’s vibrant artistic and literary heritage, resonating on a global stage.

Special guest Ian Pelham Turner, an international TV broadcaster, graced the event, while Duchess Nivin ElGamal of Lamberton, UPF UK Patron, delivered the welcome address. Robin Marsh, Secretary General of UPF UK, and Margaret Ali, Director of UPF UK, spoke about the role of art in fostering global understanding.

Chair of IAACP, Dr Sangita Swechcha, said: “This event takes us on a journey through the transformative power of art. We are privileged to hear from extraordinary individuals whose works transcend boundaries and speak to the universal values of peace, resilience, and unity.”

Other highlights included discussions with Amina Art Ansari, a British Pakistani artist with works in Windsor Castle’s Jubilee collection, and readings by poets Shahd Karaeen from Palestine, Nayeema Mahjoor from India, and Catherine Tuitt MBE. Musical performances by Italian opera singer Marisa Di Muro and oud player Saife Al-Naffak from Iraq added depth to the celebration.
