    Nepal: Police arrest Nine youths involved in gang-rape in Kathmandu

    Nine youths involved in a gang rape at Mitranagar in Kathmandu’s new bus park have been caught by the police.

    The victim is a 33-year-old woman who came to Kathmandu from Surkhet in search of work, police said.

    Police have arrested seven people on Tuesday night and two on Wednesday. The arrested accused were made public by the police on Wednesday evening.

    According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, the arrested have been identified as Hikmat Nepali, 23, Ratan Nepali, 22, Deepak Nepali, 19, Shivahari Budha, 23, Yubaraj Baduwal, 24, Hast Nepali, 25, of Chhayanath Rara Municipality, Ward No. 10 Suresh Sejuwal, 21, of No. 6, Chandra Saud, 24, of Chhayanath Raja Municipality-11 and Gopal Kumar Shirish of Kapilvastu Buddhabhumi have been arrested.

    All the accused involved in the rape were preparing to go for foreign employment, Dinesh Raj Mainali, police spokesperson told media outlets.

    According to him, the victim is a 33-year-old woman who came to Kathmandu from Surkhet in search of work. Preliminary investigations have revealed that her husband has been missing for some time.

    According to Mainali, the woman was taken to various guest houses in the bus park from Monday evening to Tuesday morning and raped.

    The investigation was started after the woman informed the police. According to Mainali, the suspects were identified and arrested during the investigation.

    Police said that those involved in the incident were arrested after conducting CCTV footage and technical analysis.
