Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN ) has removed national cricket team captain Gyanendra Malla and vice-captain Dipendra Singh Aire on Wednesday for not following the code of conduct.

The Board meeting of CAN on Wednesday dismissed Malla and Aire and handed over the captaincy to Sandeep Lamichhane, CAN said in a statement.

The CAN has also decided not to include Sompal Kami and Kamal Singh Aire, along with captain Malla and Dipendra Singh Aire for the first six months in the 2022 ‘Central Contract’.

Earlier, four players including Malla, had been publicly complaining about the central contract of a player made by CAN.

According to the players, the classification of the players was not scientific and practical. CAN said it asked the players for an explanation. According to the CAN, the player’s explanation was not satisfactory, and the player did not follow the code of conduct.

Similarly, the CAN meeting has decided to conduct closed training of the national team in Pokhara from December 21 to recognize the Nepal Coaches Association and to select the former president of the association Naresh Shrestha in the CAN Advisory Committee.
