The health authority of Nepal has confirmed twenty cases of the new Omicron variant of coronavirus.
Out of 24 samples sent for gene-sequencing of late, all were confirmed with Omicron, the Ministry of Health and Population said in a statement.
During the screening of 1146 positive samples of coronavirus collected in the past three weeks, 250 were found to be S-negative, the Ministry said.
While sequencing the genes of 24 samples, Omicron variants were confirmed in all of them, the ministry said.
Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population urged all hospitals to stay alert against coronavirus transmission.
