Dozens of students of a primary girls’ school were poisoned on Sunday in the communication district of Afghanistan’s northern Sari Pul province, Mufti Amir Saripuli, Provincial Director of Information and Culture, said on Monday.
“A total of 77 students, seven teachers, five parents and an employee of Faizabad Girl School in Kabod Ab area of Sancharak district were poisoned but the condition of affected people is stable,” Saripulit told Xinhua without providing more details.
Officials have said that an investigation has been started into the incident.
Meanwhile, the mother of the victim girl Mahanaz condemned the incident and demanded the provincial administration to identify those involved in the incident and take legal action.
Another student’s father, Ali Agha Karbalai, said that the number of affected students is 80 and that he is praying for his daughter’s speedy recovery.
According to the villagers, 87 people including 80 affected students were taken to the hospital on Sunday.
