Tomorrow, August 15 is the last day to sign up for health insurance during the special enrollment period. The special enrollment period was set to August 15 due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emergency.
“If you’re currently enrolled in Marketplace coverage, you may qualify for more tax credits,” HealthCare.gov said.
“If you change plans or add a new household member, any out-of-pocket costs you already paid on your current 2021 Marketplace plan probably won’t count towards your new deductible, even if you stay with the same insurance company,” the health agency said.
The agency suggests that people should call their insurance company before changing plans or adding a new household member to find out if they will need to start over to meet the new plan’s deductible.
People can enroll or change any time if they experience a life event that qualifies for a Special Enrollment Period, the health agency said.
The health agency urged people to go to http://HealthCare.gov and join more than two million Americans who have gotten covered over the last six months.
New data released on Thursday by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows more than 2.5 million people enrolled in health coverage on HealthCare.gov and state Marketplaces during the Biden-Harris Administration’s 2021 Special Enrollment Period (SEP), which will close on August 15.
Additional data released by CMS Thursday shows that a record high of nearly 81.7 million people are now receiving coverage through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) as of March 2021.
“The continued rise in enrollment demonstrates the success of the Biden-Harris Administration’s work to build upon the Affordable Care Act and deliver high-quality, affordable health care for millions of Americans,” HealthCare.gov said in a news release.
