Russian missile attacks struck Kyiv while UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was visiting the city on Thursday night, Ukrainian President Vloydymyr Zelensky said in a video message.
Two missile strikes reportedly rocked the capital shortly after the press conference with UN Chief, the United Nations confirmed.
“This says a lot about Russia’s true attitude to global institutions, about the Russian leadership’s efforts to humiliate the UN and everything that the organization represents,” Zelensky said.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called the attacks a “heinous act of barbarism” in a tweet on Thursday, adding that Russia “demonstrates once again its attitude towards Ukraine, Europe and the world.”
As a result of the rocket attack on a residential building in Kyiv, 10 people were injured and 4 people were hospitalized, according to the Kyiv City State Administration.
