A group of armed individuals in Mexico has kidnapped 14 employees of the Ministry of State Security. The security forces in the southern state of Chiapas, Mexico, are currently conducting a search for the 14 employees who were abducted from the Ministry of State Security.
According to a statement released by the ministry, all the abducted male employees were taken by members of an armed group, approximately 22 miles (34.4 kilometers) west of the capital city, Tuxtla.
The ministry spokesperson informed the Reuters news agency that all 14 employees were working in administrative roles and not as police officers. The spokesperson also mentioned that this is the first incident of its kind and an investigation is currently underway to determine the motive behind the abduction.
Both federal and state agents are involved in the investigation concerning the 14 employees of the Ministry of State Security. In the video of the abduction released through communication channels, it can be seen that a car suddenly stops on the highway, and all the employees are forced at gunpoint into the vehicle. However, Reuters has yet to verify the authenticity of the video. The office of the state prosecutor has confirmed that they are examining the reported images and videos of the incident.
