According to sources, during a company-wide meeting on Thursday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg warned employees to “buckle up” for an “intense year” ahead. He emphasized the company’s focus on artificial intelligence developments and addressed recent controversial policy changes.

The meeting marked significant changes to Meta’s internal communication format, with the company disabling comment features and hiding question rankings due to concerns about leaks. Zuckerberg expressed frustration over recent leaks of his private remarks, stating, “We try to be really open, and then everything I say leaks. It sucks.”

Zuckerberg highlighted Meta’s ambitious plans for AI, announcing a $60 billion to $65 billion investment in capital expenditures for the year. He emphasized that 2025 would be a “defining year for AI,” with the company aiming to build an AI data center so large it would cover a significant part of Manhattan.

The CEO also addressed recent controversial policy changes, including Meta’s rollback of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and its evolving relationship with the U.S. government. He acknowledged that these changes, along with potential layoffs and the introduction of AI agents to write new code, would make the year particularly challenging for employees.

Zuckerberg’s comments come amid Meta’s ongoing efforts to tighten internal communication and prevent leaks, with the company warning that leakers would face termination. The new communication format aims to reduce transparency to mitigate the risk of sensitive information being exposed.

As Meta continues to navigate these changes, employees are being urged to stay focused and prepared for a year of significant transformation and growth.
