France striker Kylian Mbappé became the new captain of the national football team.
After former captain Hugo Loris retired from international football, France handed the captaincy over to 24-year-old Mbappé. Mbappé plays professional football for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Mbappé was instrumental in France winning the 2018 World Cup and finishing runners-up at the 2022 World Cup. His first game as captain will be Friday’s Euro 2024 qualifier at the Stade de France against the Netherlands .
