In a truly astonishing twist to an already wild story, a man being arrested in connection with a jewelry heist allegedly swallowed two diamond earrings, worth a staggering $769,000, in a desperate bid to evade capture.

Jaythan Lawrence Gilder, 32, posed as a representative for an Orlando Magic player to infiltrate Tiffany & Co.’s VIP room. Once inside, he managed to swipe two pairs of diamond earrings: one valued at $160,000 and another at $609,500. However, his daring escape was short-lived.

Florida Highway Patrol apprehended Gilder on Interstate 10, leading to a shocking turn of events as Gilder swallowed the stolen items during his arrest. Police conducted a body scan at the jail, revealing foreign objects in his stomach, suspected to be the missing earrings.

Gilder, who has a history of similar offenses, now faces charges of first-degree grand theft and robbery. Authorities are awaiting the natural recovery of the earrings as part of the ongoing investigation.
