Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang has become China’s new Prime Minister. The entire cabinet including the Prime Minister of the country is going to be reorganized. Except for President Xi Jinping, all top officials and ministers will be replaced at the parliament session. President Xi Jinping nominated Li Qiang for the post of Prime Minister at the first session of the 14th National People’s Congress.

Li Qiang, 63, is considered close to President Xi Jinping. He is said to be a pro-business politician in Chin Fing’s inner circle. Li Qiang is second only to President Xi Jinping in the new seven-member Standing Committee. First, Li Qiang was the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and later rose to the position of Deputy Minister. He has accompanied President Xi Jinping on foreign visits.

A big change has been seen in China’s politics. 67-year-old Li Keqiang, who has served as prime minister for 10 consecutive years, is officially retiring. In his place, 63-year-old Li Qiang has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of China.

Li Keqiang took office as Prime Minister in 2013. The Prime Minister presides over the Council of State and the Union Council of Ministers. However, during his tenure, Xi Jinping imposed many restrictions on his power. By passing him, Xi Jinping placed his colleagues in important positions above him. Tomorrow is Li Keqwang’s last day in the office.
