    Khatiwada: Anti-Asian Violence, Trade, Tourism, and Foreign Investment

    WASHINGTON D.C.-  Nepal Ambassador to U.S Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada said the Nepali community needs to be on the watch out for any possible targeted hate crimes in the area where they reside. He expressed his sympathy and condolences to the victims and families of recent violence and incidents targeting Asian Americans.

    Khatiwada also urged to maintain the peace and harmony despite of difficulties.

    During a virtual event organized Monday evening by America Nepal Society (ANS), he said his team at the embassy will be committed to strengthen the bilateral relationship with United States.

    He emphasized his tenure will focus on the government’s objectives to increase foreign investment, promotion of tourism and export of Nepalese manufacturing as key to “prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali”. Khatiwada said; Nepal’s strategic ties with the US will be taken to new heights as US-Nepal bilateral relationship has marked 70 plus years since 1947 A.D.

    Khatiwada sound confident that there is an opportunity from his previous roles as governor, finance minister, and vice chair of national planning commission, and new horizon can be achieved. Khatiwada believes he will be able to generate enough resources and significant work can be done towards building trade partnership between two countries.

    Ambassador Khatiwada expressed how his desire to meet and interact with Nepali diaspora leaders has been on hold until COVID-19 vaccination is received by large population in DC Metro area. 

    He thanked and congratulated ANS President Ms Prabha Deuja and the team for the effort made towards awareness and vaccination of Nepali community residing in Fairfax county and DC Metro. 

    Khatiwada’s appointment as Nepali ambassador to US is seen with high hopes in DC Metro and northern America as he is known as a person well-versed on economy, finance and development issues.
