A federal magistrate judge on Friday ordered Thomas Barrack, the former chair of President Donald Trump’s 2017 inaugural committee, who was arrested and charged this week with conspiring to act as an agent of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and lying to investigators, to be released from jail on a $250 million bond secured by $5 million in cash.
Barrack was arrested Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Barrak had an initial appearance in front of US Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue in Los Angeles. He had been in custody since then.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue in Los Angeles federal court also ordered strict conditions for Barrack to surrender passports, wear a GPS-location monitoring bracelet, limit travel between Southern California and New York City and obey a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.
He must appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Monday, where he will be arraigned.
According to CNN, a spokesman has said he intends to plead not guilty.
