A jet crashed during the Thunder Over Michigan air show on Sunday afternoon after two individuals were ejected from the aircraft. The incident, which occurred just south of Willow Run Airport, near the city of Ypsilanti, has captured the attention of spectators and authorities alike.

According to the Wayne County Airport Authority, both individuals who were ejected from the aircraft miraculously escaped significant injuries. However, they were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. The aircraft subsequently crashed into the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex, colliding with unoccupied vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the residents of the apartment complex.

Eyewitnesses reported that the two ejected individuals deployed parachutes and landed in Belleville Lake.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed in twitter that the aircraft as an MiG-23 jet. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have announced their intention to conduct thorough investigations into the incident to determine its cause and prevent future occurrences.

In response to the incident, organizers of the Thunder Over Michigan air show made a decision to halt the event following what they referred to as a “situation.” The specifics of the situation were not immediately disclosed. Attendees were urged to leave the airfield calmly and were assured that traffic control measures were in place to manage the flow of vehicles.

As the investigation unfolds, questions about the circumstances leading to the ejection and subsequent crash remain. The Thunder Over Michigan air show, typically a two-day extravaganza of aerial displays, has been overshadowed by this unforeseen incident.
