    Jeff Zients will be the new White House Chief of Staff

    U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Friday that he will appoint his former aide Jeff Zients as the new Chief of Staff of the White House. Jeff Zients will replace current Chief of Staff Ron Klain.

    Jeff Zients previously played the role of coordinator during the Corona epidemic. A large-scale vaccination program against Covid was launched under his leadership.

    “There will be an ‘Official transition’ event at the White House next week to thank Ron for his tireless work and to officially welcome Jeff back to the White House in this role, ” Biden said in his statement.

    The announcement came after Ron Klein resigned from his position today.

    President Biden praised the hard work of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klein, adding he is confident in Zients of following the hard work of his predecessor.

    Zients left the White House in April last year after successfully managing the Covid pandemic. However, after the US mid-term elections, he returned to the White House to help Ron Klein. Jeff was speculated to be the next Chief of Staff in recent days after Ron gave Jeff more responsibilities.

    The White House Chief of Staff is considered the most powerful government position in Washington. The Office of the Chief of Staff is responsible for directing, managing and overseeing all policy development, daily operations, and staff activities for the President. This office coordinates and communicates with all departments and agencies of the Administration. The White House Chief of Staff is often one of the last advisers to the President before making major decisions. Jeff is considered a skilled executive but is said to lack the political experience of Ron Klein.

    Zients, who will be the White House Chief of Staff when the Biden administration has completed two years in power. Also, the US President has also been targeted by the opposition after classified documents were found in Biden’s house.

    Who is Jeffrey Zients?

    Zients, a resident of Washington DC, graduated from Duke University and has extensive experience working in the private sector.

    Zients served as Counselor to the President and the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator from January 2021 to April 2022. He was the director of the National Economic Council from February 2014 to January 2017  under Barack Obama’s administration.

    Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Zients spent 20 years in the private sector as a CEO, management consultant and entrepreneur. His expertise in business strategy, process reengineering and financial management extends across a range of industries and geographies. Zients served as CEO and Chairman of The Advisory Board Company and Chairman of the Corporate Executive Board, both leading providers of performance benchmarking and best practices across a wide range of industries, assisting senior executives at over 5,000 businesses to improve the efficiency of their operations. Zients began his career in management consulting where he focused on developing strategies and improving operations of Fortune 1000 companies.

    Zients has previously served as a board member of institutions including Children’s National Medical Center, Sirius XM Radio, Revolution Health Group, and Timbuk2 Designs.

    Zients is a co-founder of The Urban Alliance Foundation, a non-profit organization that partners with corporations to provide economically disadvantaged youth with year-round paid internships, adult mentors and job training. He graduated summa cum laude from Duke University.
