Israel’s security cabinet has voted to declare the country at war, granting the government the power to engage in “significant military activities,” in response to the intensifying crisis, as per a report by The Times of Israel. This decision aligns with Basic Law: The Government, Clause 40, which mandates a government decision before going to war. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had already characterized the situation as war when Hamas infiltrated southern Israel, expressed determination to continue the operation until Hamas was defeated and Israel’s security was restored, reported the news agency.

We will pursue them until they are brought to justice,” declared Prime Minister Netanyahu in a televised address. He also expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity from the U.S. and other nations, emphasizing Israel’s right and duty to defend itself against aggression.

The Hamas attack has prompted widespread international condemnation and calls for an immediate ceasefire. The United Nations Security Council is set to convene an emergency meeting today to address the escalating situation.
