At least 17 Islamic State (IS) terrorists have been killed in an operation by the security forces of Iraq. The Iraqi authorities informed the media that the terrorists were killed in the Aksat area of Anbar, the western province of Iraq.
Yahia Rasoul, the spokesman of the Iraqi army, has informed that the army has started operations because IS has recently increased its activities and created terror in the western region of Iraq. Spokesperson Rosal has informed that 17 people including a commander of the IS group were killed in Sunday’s operation.
Spokesman Rosal said that the Iraqi army has been conducting military operations in the western province of Anb for a few months. Spokesman Rosal has informed that the military operation was initiated after the IS group started attacking the security forces and government offices in the province for the past few months.
In 2017, the Iraqi army took control of all of the country’s territory by carrying out extensive operations against IS. After that, although there is a good peace and security situation here, IS still continues its terrorist activities in some places.
