In this year’s Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest, an Indian photographer has emerged victorious through an online vote. Kabir Jhangiani, the talented photojournalist, secured the top spot with his captivating work titled “Seagulls Around Yamuna River.” Jhangiani’s photograph captures a serene moment as a man rows his boat along the banks of the Yamuna River in New Delhi. The image showcases the arrival of migratory birds to India during the winter season, with these feathered visitors making their way to different parts of the country by October and departing around March.
Among the top five finalists chosen by online voters, Kabir Jhangiani’s work shone brightly. The second place was claimed by Fabrice Mbonankira from Burundi for his compelling photograph “Sleeping Queens.” The third and fourth places were secured by Russian photographers. Pelagia Tikhonova’s “Remembering 1945” captured the third spot, while Yevgeny Filippov’s “Individual Race” came in fourth. Another talented Indian photographer, Sayan Adhikary from Kolkata, showcased his skill with “The Dying Tradition Through Circle,” earning him the fifth place.
